Road Safety Campaign

Kirk Sandall Community Group attended a meeting of the Development and Transport Board of Doncaster Council on 17th September 01.

The 800 strong petition was presented to the Board along with a spoken letter of concern over Road Safety Issues by Sue Davies, also in attendance was Lesley Laws.

The Board accepted the petition and said that it would be investigated fully after which the Group would be informed of any action. As you can see from the photos (right), the children still have to run the gauntlet of parked and moving cars in front of the school. The sooner the Council do something about this the better. The group has put pressure on the Council to extend the yellow lines to the round the corner of Dentons Green Lane. As the Council says this will only help if the car owners obey the lines something you can see from the photos they do not.

On your behalf we have written to the head of Infrastructure to see if he can throw any light on the matter. We are now in the process of contacting as many as possible, of the 800 plus names to tell them how there views are being treated

This campaign still continues as parking around the school has NOT as yet got any better.

Brecks Lane Junction

Success, as you may have seen we now have the traffic lights at this junction. All does not stop there, how about some traffic calming measures in the village.

One thing I have noticed is the Amber Lights could do with stopping on just a touch longer to allow right turning traffic off Doncaster Road that have stopped in the middle waiting for a gap in traffic.

Also, cars turning right in the middle of the road cannot see when the lights change.

Please keep this in mind when you are at the junction and take care.

Brecks Lane Shops Car Park

As you are all well aware the Car Park has been changed some say for the better some not. Please take note of the entrance and exit and use the right ones.

The green area in front of the Co-op will be landscaped (we hope) before the end of the year. The bench will be moved away from the road and a bin placed next to it. We hope to improve the Village Notice Board as well.

I wonder how long it will before the bollards are put right (note the bench with no seat!).
The seat has now been fixed!
